90-minutes, supported yoga practice for you to embody rest

WHAT TO EXPECT

The soundscape of our time spent together is a tide that sweeps you into your own interiority.

I often play music in class that your body listens and softens to, as it leans into the support it is provided. Soon, you find your breath beginning to move along its rhythm, tethering your unruly mind to the still, wild center of your being.

You receive one-on-one treatment, even as we practice in groups.

Every body holds history differently, and I cannot assume I know yours at first glance. With your permission, I adjust your poses and remain by your side until the exact geometry of your comfort is discovered.

I do not leave you feeling unsupported in even a single bone or muscle. We spend our class time figuring out what genuine support looks and feels like for your specific neck, your specific hips, your specific spine.

My commitment to your comfort is the core of our agreement.

Restorative yoga does not demand that you let go, it facilitates it.

The sequence of poses is designed to release all stress and tension held across the entire landscape of your body, and slow the racing mind.

From the unclenching of your facial muscles, through the weighted release in the deep basins of your hips and your foundation; by the end of your practice, there is no place left holding any residue of stress.

I’m no stranger to my own meanness that sneaks up on me when it is quiet, and even when there is kindness.

As we spend long durations in each pose surrendering to gravity, I guide your breath and subtle movements, informed by my own practice of metta (loving-kindness) necessary to still the windmills of your mind and be a kind witness to your heart.

If your week has been marred by harsh scrutiny, dissociation, or the theft of your much-needed ‘me’ time, this class teaches you how to give yourself back to yourself.

What would it feel like to offer compassion to the very parts of your body and soul that have been begging for it all this time?

This class is for

Class timings

Saturdays, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

The exhausted and the over-extended; those who are moved solely by urgency and need to hit pause.

The caregivers, giving until depleted, in need of some much-deservered tender, loving care.

The high-alert nervous systems, restless and scattered, unable to find the off switch when the sun goes down.

Bodies holding a history of injuries old or recent, prolonged stress, painful cycles, unfamiliar with comfort.

The always-on athletes who need a reminder that recovery time is not failure, but a sustainable route to longevity.

The absolute beginners, with the belief that yoga isn’t for them, due to their ‘limitations’.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Asad Ali Zulfiqar

With a foundation built on 7 years of yoga and 6 years of metta, Asad offers an invitation to explore yoga as a homecoming to the body. Their teaching ethos, tender as a bruise and resilient as the earth, asks: "How can we honor the discomforts of being, so that we may open ourselves to wonder and befriend all that arises?"

Asad teaches restorative yoga because they believe in the power of supported surrender, guiding the nervous system to shift from doing to being. They create nests of comfort where the body finds release from tension held in the physical and emotional layers.

This work is informed by their 200-hour YTT from The Yoga Well and their acclaimed artistic practice, recognized with a Prince Claus Seed Award. In their practice, Asad holds space for unspoken truths to be felt, witnessed, and held with love. They guide students to hold both their pain and their possibilities with kindness, supporting their journey toward liberation and rest.
