We've all been there—in moments when life feels suffocating, when it's hard to breathe. And then, a sound. A song. Appears, as if from nowhere, as a sudden grace in the brutal silence; isn't that a form of kindness? A comforting hand briefly on your shoulder in a world that sometimes feels too cruel?
Music, sometimes, is the only one bearing witness, the only one to insist on your belonging to the world, when the world insists on your erasure.
The song saw us when no one else did, and led us home.
This workshop bows its head to Ocean Vuong’s essay, The Songs Prove That We Were Here. He reminds us how art, like an old river, carries the sediment of our histories, our griefs, our small triumphs.
A song woven from mere air bears the imprints of our heaviest feet. "They're made of air, yet we walk on them," he writes. In this workshop, we’ll press our weight into that air and remember the fact of having been.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
As an artist, my calling is to explore people's histories and their irrefutable influence on identity, public and private lives, through a blend of artistic and spiritual practices. I turn to participatory methods to guide individuals to excavate powerful memories through personal objects, which in this case, is music. My workshops are containers where unspoken truths emerge, are felt, witnessed and held with love. We draw upon these truths for wisdom in our striving for freedom in our lives.
