Hi, I'm Asad 👋🏽
I am an artist from Karachi whose work explores sociocultural experiences. Driven by my commitment to the written word, I create writing practices that can uphold the transient nature of identity and open up time.
About this project
I’m an artist-in-residence at the 2024 VM Art Gallery's residency, Always, From the Heart. I'm working on a performance art piece that looks at love, creativity and desire through the eyes of a child.
For the exhibition, I am seeking a confident 8-14-year-old to play Ali, an expressive child who navigates challenges in their household.
Requirements
The role requires the skill to understand and read English fluently. The applicant must be located in Karachi.
They are required at the VM Art Gallery for brief rehearsal sessions at least 2-3 days a week for the month of June. They should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
How to apply
Interested applicants may submit 1-3 minute-long video of them reading any prose in English, along with their name, age, parents’ name, and contact number.
What to expect
The shortlisted candidates will be called for an audition at the VM Art Gallery between June 3-7.
The selected applicant will be the lead in the performance art piece that will captivate audiences at the VM Art Gallery in July 2024.
They will receive credit and a humble honorarium of Rs. 10,000/- for their participation.
